Jowanda worked the entertainment trenches to find her voice as a performer. She received her BA in Drama from the University of Georgia. She also studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and studied Improv at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade.
She’s taught drama for elementary and middle school kids in the middle Georgia area. In 2005, she penned, produced and starred in two successful plays: Cabaret at Trio and the one-woman play Women of the Bible…The good…the bad…and the gospel truth.” Both shows were warmly received by critics and audiences. Her short films and web series have been showcased in film festivals in New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
Jowanda continues to act in commercials for Miss Clairol, Instant Taxes, and independent films. She has come full circle as an actress, director, writer, and producer in the second season of the award-winning web series, “Rhonda Mitchell, MD.” She is a SAG/AFTRA member.
